Excellent job my good man! Thanks for the Fidget (folding widget)! Now for all those Panther lackeys, you in fact CAN run widgets if you are at version 10.3.9. Check out Amnesty Widget Browser (http://www.mesadynamics.com/amnesty.htm). You don't get the cool dashboard effect, but you can play with widgets. Fold if ya got 'em!

I hate to say this but, Intel really designed a good chip. The P4 still has alot of life in it even though the P5 is going to be introduced in 2nd QTR of 2003. The G4 either has to step aside for the Power4 or really get it's act together.

This would greatly improve the usability of airplay, in my opinion.
Imagine you had your TV on some random channel, while surfing the internet on your iPad. If your TV supported AirPlay, then you could just click the Airplay button on your iPad, and the random channel would be changed to the Airplay content. You wouldn't have to change the tuners over to Apple TV. Much more convenient.

I like Airplay, but the added step of having to change inputs to apple tv, while admittedly minimal, is still enough of an inconvenience to keep my wife from using it very often.
Also, I notice that airplay doesn't seem to work when I'm playing internet radio on my apple tv 2G. I have to stop the radio from playing and back out to the main menu on the apple tv before it will accept an airplayed photo from my iphone 4, for example. Anyone else notice this behavior?

Okay, finally I CONFIRM that the software raid used by Mac OS X is NOT compatible with the EFI upgrades :( ... too bad.
Why ? Because i just finished to install a fresh copy of Mac OS X on my 400 Gig "DATA" drive made the upgrade with this distribution ... and it worked like a charm !
So ...
lol, i guess we think alike when it comes to problem solving, u gave me hope that it will work for me as well, this raid is causing too much problems, but i do like the speed and starup time of 20 secs or less... dillemma, keep raid or go back to 4 sepperate disks?

Thanks for stating the obvious but why would one NOT chose something that is 100% doc and docx compatible with all the Windows counterparts?
If you need to compose a grocery list or a flier for your next garage sale then iWurk is for you I guess but for the rest of us that actually need to collaborate with other people in the real world, no thanks.
To be fair the Office '11 apps aren't 100% compatible, or at least not 100% 'exact'. Their preview last year had the guy saying for Word they had printed files out and made sure they were exactly the same between Windows and Mac. Oh how I wish they had done the same with Excel! Graphs, margins, page sizes and how they all relate together STILL cause quite some changes when crossing platforms.

don't take this the wrong way, but these "biggots" you speak of are a lot like the born-again christians that corner you at the coffee machine trying to get you to go to church with them. (in fact, i even remember a mac fac site called "evangelista"!) macs offer simplicity, stability, and peace of mind--we do not have to travel through the blue screen of death, because the mac is with us! most of us, at one time, were just like you, using those evil windoze machines. but now "we have seen the light!" and can't possibly imagine how you could continue in your suffering. you don't know the peace you could have if you just gave the mac a chance. do you see the metaphor here?
and one thing many windoze people say is, "if macs are so much better, why only 5% market share?" well, christianity started with less market share than that, and it is certainly better than baal or ishtar, just to name a few!

Agree 100% - as I said in my original post, I don't think Apple are in any way culpable here: It's not their job to set prices for apps or in-app purchases. I also think Parents need to accept responsibility and watch their kids more carefully.

Given that universal versions of Adobe's software are not universal yet (Or at least most) does anyone know exactly how much slower any particular Adobe program (photoshop, illustrator, etc.) runs on an Intel Mac compared to a PPC Mac? I've heard it runs slower, but HOW much slower?

Here's the gist of the problem: too generous state worker union pensions. I wouldn't be surprised that these pensions are extensively re-done to drastically cut its cost in order to reduce state budget deficits.
So, the bad guys are the teachers, firefighters, police, tax collectors, engineers, paper pushers, etc... who are employed by the government? So, it's their fault that corporations and individuals aren't paying (or avoiding paying) sufficient taxes to pay for the spending that was enacted by elected officials?
Good to know who you blame for not being able to afford things like more oil subsidies, tax breaks for companies like GE, and lowering estate taxes on high value estates.
Not that surprising considering the efforts to now radically cut programs for the poor, sick and elderly.
(edit) How many BILLIONS of dollars in bribe money have been "lost" or "misplaced" or "stolen" in Iraq and Afghanistan? Billions with a B. Enough to fund the 14-16 billion dollar cost of extending unemployment 14 more weeks? In the past three years, over $3 billion in CASH was flown out of Kabul reports the Wall Street Journal. Officials don’t know exactly who got what, but have a general idea: “U.S. investigators believe top Afghan officials and their associates are sending billions of diverted U.S. aid and logistics dollars and drug money to financial safe havens abroad.” That’s still $9 billion less than what was lost in Iraq. Not quite enough, but close.

I will say it was a great read and I agree with it.
We do need to raises taxes as right now they are at record lows and clearly THEY ARE NOT WORKING. Instead due to the record lows things are getting worse and more things are having to be cut. On top of that most of these stats were warned years prior that if they cut those taxes that in a few years it will come back to hurt them big time. This was made worse by economic downturn and so budget shortfalls were even worse than what was projected.
All service cut do is hurt 90% of the people for the top 5% of the income earns that they help.
If you look at most of the tax cuts they are only for the top earners. Main street gets nothing but services cut. Tax cuts never effect them. GOP screams Tax cuts tax cuts but then you look at it the cuts do not help most of us. Instead they only hurt us.
Also a kicker. the more you make the less each dollar saved helps. Tax cut at the top means money lost in revenue for the goverement but you MIGHT see 5-10% of that saved money go back into the economy. Most of it goes no were.
Compared to tax cuts or service increase on the middle class and down you will see most of that money go back into the economy.
Tell me if you want to boost the economy were do you put the injection. At the top were you might get 10% of it back or at the bottom were you will see nearly 100% of it back.
GOP wants you to believe that it is at the top. Reality is that it should go at the bottom.

I was running through matches this past weekend, and nearly all my settings were medium, and 2d portrait. Using the dedicated graphics card (low end model with 256MB).
It ran fairly well for a beta, I had a few crashes but not graphics related. Upon starting up SC2 the opening menu is choppy, but the game is extremely playable. And even more so if you were to set your settings on low.
Either way it will be exciting come July 27.
(I'm planning on getting the new mac pro, and boosting the graphics, and game it out!):cool:

seriously just shut ur pretty faces with the tired backlit keyboard anthem. this is like the least desirable feature esp since it has a direct impact on battery life.
so simple really:
-more power
-longer battery life
-IPS display
-less weight
-runs cool
the new x220 does the mba better in three items above today for a fact. time for apple to step it up again.
If you don't like the BL keyboard you can always switch it off. Gives you the so desired battery life and others keep the option for a bl keyboard...

You would have to be an absolute Apple-hater to go to Best Buy, play with both the iPad 2 and the Xoom (both currently on display for play) and come away thinking the Xoom was a better product. Go compare them yourselves side-by-side (well, they are about 15 feet apart at my Best Buy) and decide for yourself. For me, the iPad is still the clear leader in both fit & finish, screen (off-angle viewing) and simplicity-user friendliness of OS. And the Apps availability really seals the deal if you want to consider what you will actually do with the hardware once you get it home.
