I am trying to book ticket for my summer travel to India and frusteted with knowledge of travel agents and airline peoples. My story is like this:
I have EXPIRED F-1 VISA STAMP, VALID H-1 APPROVAL , NO H-1 STAMPING IN PASSPORT, HAVE ADVANCE PAROL FOR REENTRY ( My family is also traverling with me with H-4 approval and AP)
I want your guidance : For going to India ( and coming back also !!)
(1) Which CITIES I can TRAVEL Through WIthout requiring TRANSIT VISA?
(2) Which AIR LINE OPERATES flights through these cities?
(3) what are the non-stop flight options available between US and India?
(4) Non-stop flights are cheap or costly compare to other one stop flights?
( I dont want to apply for TRANSIT VISA, I had already sent too much money on H-1 and GC process and traveling with my family so if I go for Transit visa it will cost me atleast 1000 $ extra !!!)
I want to go to AMD ( Direct or through BOMBAY if possible)
Also let me know any good knowledgable travel agents who knows rule and give good deal for India.

Yes, my PD is Nov. 2005 - from looking at the current situation, it looks like we have nothing to lose if we file it - the worst thing that can happen is that it will be rejected (even before being processed). I am applying!!!:)
My papers reached my lawyer only on 3rd. So, she didnt file at that time. Yesterday, she asked me if we can apply to become a part of lawsuit. I said OK. My file was sent to uscis yesterday by fedex. Since, I have spent 1000$ already on medical and other stuffs, just thought, why not give it a shot.
I would ask you guys to consider filing especially if your PD is in 2005 or later.

...but could be due to unavailability of visa numbers for EB2-I in September. So even though the ported PD of Nov 2004 is current in September, the October visa bulletin has clarified that the EB2-I numbers were actually exhaused in September. See below:

DOL (Department of Labor) will give ur company a tracking/receipt number. ask ur company to check the status of the case using that number from DOL website.

As you understand there is no magic correct solution to this situation, but, whichever decision you make about which line your mother-in-law stands in, she should be well prepared to document her intention to return to her home abroad after her visit to the US. Documents she should be prepared to show could include: proof of home ownership or long term lease abroad, proof of bank accounts abroad, proof of car ownership abroad, fixed date return ticket, proof of family abroad--husband and/or other children/grandchildren, proof of some specific event she plans to attend abroad such as wedding or other invitations, etc.

I am pleasantly surprised and would like to thank Sen Mendez on behalf of all the IV members in his constituency for sponsoring visa recapture bill in Senate. Few days back when we called his office, his position was different. But because of we all calling and requesting for his support, he graciouly has agreed to take up our case. Speaking with his staff, I came to know that more than thousand calls were made to his office in support of the visa recapture bill.
No Offense, but please don't misspell the senator/congressman(woman) name...Senator Menendez...
It might also not look good when someone from IV calls the office and pronounces the name incorrectly...

we live in an apartment and our landlord does not give permission to install antenna, neither do we get any dish tv (indian channel) signal due to trees around the complex. i recently heard about dish iptv where they connect a wire to your internet modem and you can watch desi channels on the tv. does anyone have this service and what has been your experience with it?they have a contract and i want to know if it really works before buying the services. thanks a lot.

The Immigration Nationality Act does not say specifically that h4 time is added towards h1 time. It is the way laws interpreted by uscis that states h4 time counted towards H1. USCIS can change their interpretation by merely issuing a memo.

The most important thing for all of us now is OUR COLLECTIVE SUPPORT TO IV by instant contribution, to accomplish these reforms which can change many lives and careers. I think this the biggest expected reform, bigger than July 2nd filing SUCCESS, thus we should do HIGHEST contribution to pull it to our side. We should think - What I, as an individual, am doing for this peaceful lobbying? Am I doing anything? can I do more? and then we will find ways to help IV and help ourselves. Then we would not think twice to add $100 or $200 which is about 1/10 th cost of your 1 month apt rent - and stop paying rent forever after greencard and saving millions with free job change, multiple jobs, own business, or buying house etc.
Everybody should realise the importance of getting the some relief rather than nothing with further discussion on ROW effect, please!

I am working on EAD which expires on 10th Septempber 2008. I filed for my EAD on 25th June, 2008 and with the current processing dates at Nebraska, my guess is that I wont recieve my EAD until later September/early October.
Will I have to stop working for the period when I dont have my EAD? My employer is very co-operative and will bear with me. But what are my options?
My husband is the primary applicant of our 485 petition, so we wont have any issues of going out of status.
I would really appreciate your advice on this.
I am sure your employer knows about the rules around eligibility to work and will not allow any unauthorized to work even for a day past expiry date.
Hope you will get the Renewed EAD soon before expiry of old one.

2. If you are out of university and if company A's H1 is valid, you can start work with company A.
If you are out of university and company A's H1 is valid, but you are not getting job or salary - you are out of status
If you are out of university and company A's H1 is not valid, you are out of stats.
Please check with attorney asap.
What Snathan said above is absolutely 100% correct.
However as someone else said about stamping and getting over the out of status period issues is not correct, if at any point you were out of status (no salary or no valid i-94 (white card or the 797)), it may come back to haunt you during GC process.
Without getting into the risk/debate of whether you were counted for cap when "A" filed for your H1, in order to file with another employer "C", it is advisable to work for "A" if they have a valid H1 filed for you and if you have just left the University employer without any delay and consult with an attorney to remedy the out of status issue for the period since you left the Univ. employer. And as always, if you think you were helped by the senior members here, please consider helping IV by donating to your own cause as soon as you get a project / back on track. Thank You.

I am also in the same boat. I am Aug 2007 filer. I got an interview at local office on Feb 2009 to check on my vaccination papers.. They told me my papers will be at their office until the dates become current, and that they will issue Finger print notice before apprving the case(when the date become current) that as my FP was close to expiry then. They gave me a letter that said only contact them 30 days after the dates become current. I havent got the FP notice yet. Not sure if I should contact the local office.
