Another "effect" of this deep discounting, for me at least, is I now regret buying Applecare for my iPad1. Only adds one year of warranty (not 2 years like computers) and increased my investment by $80. I figured it would give me a edge in resale but looks like resale for my $910 iPad has dropped way down.
Most likely I'll sell it six months from now and just wait and see what's happening a year from now. Truth be told I'm disappointed in how hard iOS makes exchanging files between applications, really makes doing work harder than it could be. Good for surfing, news, and entertainment, but not for the way I like to work.

AFAIK DLNA 'pushes'. AirPlay is more of a redirect of the stream.
What I mean is that DLNA seems to be always used in the context of "I am here, and my media is over there". For example, I have music or movies stored on a remote server or a NAS, and I want to bring it into the device I'm currently sitting at (a TV, an iPod or iPad, a PS3, another computer).
Whereas AirPlay seems to be the opposite: "My media is here, but I want to play it over there". You use AirPlay to redirect the audio/video output from your iPhone or iPad or computer to a remote A/V device like your stereo receiver or Apple TV.

Ignoring current situations and if I could have it any way I want:
Macbook Air 11.6''
- Intel I5 ULV, 6mb FSB
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M
- SD Card Slot
- Thunderbolt Port in ADDITION to 2 USB ports.
- Get rid of the bezel around the screen and either make the screen slightly larger or make it black edge similar to MBP.
I would just settle for the i5 and Nvidia chip. As for the collapsable ethernet port... moving parts? ew.

I think this is the first year that everything in my house is all automatically adjusted. Except the kids who didn't get the memo. Instead of waking an hour later they got up 1.5 hours early.

Unfortunately, her PC only has a CD drive, so I cannot do that. I will look into getting Dave. I'm buying extra Ethernet cables anyway, to network all the computers and the DSL modem.

This is a great widget, and itself justifies the upgrade to Tiger! BTW, I believe you can update any widget by selecting it, and then hitting command-R (just FYI for the summary in the first post).

But he is absolutely right. It is perfectly useable without a base computer to sync with, too. Think of it this way, if one doesn't have a computer already, they won't have anything to sync. Then it's just on to the iTunes Store.
This is the right device for, say, my sister, who just wants to be able to browse the web, play some games, and watch some videos. And my guess is that's the target audience as well as the "normal" user.
