I don't need her money that bad. Living headache free and a bit lighter in the wallet is OK with me.[/QUOTE]
I agree. I think keeping your dignity and sanity intact are more important than a little extra money. I'll probably do the business card for this guy, but if he approaches me with any larger projects, I'll most likely turn him down. :)

I'm not sure you would describe it as "caning" but Android phones comfortably outsold the iPhone last year.

That's not at all what's at discussion in this thread. We're talking OS penetration, not phones sold. The statement was made that although iOS is comfortably in the lead in the US, that it's behind in the rest of the world. Given the closeness of the phone units sold, I'd be _VERY_ surprised if iOS had a lower penetration than Android.

in the german breakdown statistics from the ADAC the Fiat Panda is the second most reliable small car only being beaten by the toyota aygo by a fraction of a percent
comparing the breakdown statistics the Panda (and the toyota) is trouncing the competition from luxury or middle class brands all the way
i somehow suspect this passat is just a counter to the us tastes of camry etc. just like that rebadged minivan or that hideous pick up truck.. but hey the americans even bought the older jettas ... which had such a bad reputation in germany that they had to rename it ... twice

You know, leekohler, I'd find this crusade you have to get respect for gay rights a lot more persuasive if you didn't make snide and deriding comments about republicans and Christians on a regular basis.
Seeing someone so passionate about respect yet so blatantly not exhibiting it himself towards other groups undermines this position so badly I am actually going to ask you to stop one of the two. Please stop either

Hey... I love the insane-looking muppets.
Back off right now, anyone who's itching to take a pop at Grover...
Well, Sun Baked's tars have been a bit more controversial in the past (I loved them and miss them, but the SS gang is pretty funny).

iPhone 4's screen is still great compare to other phones. Pushing larger screen will create additional work to developers because of different resolutions. Although if Apple thought a larger screen size is really the way to go, they decided it to be the standard screen size in several years to come.

because chiming in like that to an article others find interesting is a juvenile waste of time and bandwidth. its like... i think your mom's boring. relevance? none. nobody cares what random people on the internet think is boring.
You're totally right, my opinion is wrong and juvenile...while yours is constructive and relevant to the topic at hand. Oh wait...

BuddyPop lets you quickly access your Apple Address Book via a customizeable shortcut.
It's a small, light and discrete application, has no Dock icon and it is easily and constantly accessible.
With BuddyPop you can quickly find a contact, and drop them a mail, or copy the address to the clipboard.
Screenshots are available in the documentation (http://projects.tynsoe.org/en/buddypop/doc.php) page
BuddyPop is shareware and costs 7; I've spent a lot of time working on it, so it's not expensive...
Comments and suggestions are welcome : BuddyPop@tynsoe.org.
this is one sweet app i just found out about. aside from giving you quick access to your Address Book, you can make calls via your cell phone - from your Mac! :D
it works by connecting to your phone via Bluetooth, so it's only going to work if you've got a Bluetooth phone, and a Bluetooth enabled Mac.
i've been trying to get it to work with my Bluetooth hands-free kit, but it doesn't want to play nice. :( when i connect my headset to the phone, that's okay. but then when i turn on Bluetooth on my Mac and try to make a call via BuddyPop, it kicks off the headset connection and just dials normally through the phone? does anyone know if Bluetooth can have more than one connected device? perhaps that's the problem...
but it's still a neat app. :)
oh, and the screenshots of it in action:

very similar to QS, so i guess this is good for QuickSilver fans. although... could this same thing be accomplished with a QS plug-in? i mean this is a great app, but i'm all for having one app to do it all and clearing out clutter on my HD...

I checked online, and it says you need FamilyTalk 1400 2100 plans for A-List. Guess it's not updated yet?
Called again. I did this change in the store. Rep said when you go from 1400 min to 700 min system will automatically disable a list.

Eventually, they will meet in the middle and we will have either 2 similar operating systems or simply a mix of the two.
I think Apple thinks that by taking the best of the two worlds they are creating a "better" user experience. I don't know if this is the case but I think that this is clearly the inevitable long-term outcome. Time will tell.
If anyone can do it, Apple's the company. They'll take their time, refine it, make it useful, get hardware support, etc.
So far, Microsoft's idea of touchscreen is "the finger tells the cursor where to go". Or HP overlays some terrible "Front Row"ish interface on TOP of Windows.
This is probably at least 3-5 years away if at all. I'm imagining an updated second-gen iMac (sunflower style), with a big iPad-ish display that can go up down, close, far, etc. OS X with mouse when it's far, switches to a touch-optimized view when you bring it close. Or something. My imagination is probably too "inside the box" for this sort of thing.

I will say something about SPRINT. First off, that article is WRONG!
Baltimore, Maryland is the 1st SPRINT test market for 4G, but it's not even mentioned in that article! I know so because SPRINT is actively advertising it and it's been in other press reports. So how many other test markets did they miss in their alleged comparison of 4G vs. 3G I wonder?
Um, all of them, I guess. That test was carried out locally, since the local city, at that time, provided "4G" from the 3 tested providers. I'm not sure why that would be a problem for you. The only issue I have with it is that Tmob is not tested to cover all 4 national providers, perhaps that wasn't up and running in Detroit at the time. Maybe you'll like this?: http://www.rootmetrics.com/pr/reports/2011/20110320_Seattle_4G_Study.pdf
So, what magical speed does Sprint offer in Baltimore? Considering that they only claim maximum 6Mbps speed for their "4G" network, and that was achieved in the test, you shouldn't have any problem with it.
"4G" is the problem. As marketed:
Sprint (http://shop2.sprint.com/en/shop/why_sprint/4g/evo_plan_details.html): up to 6Mbps
AT&T (http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?t=solutionTab&ft=&ps=solutionPanels&locale=en_US&_dyncharset=UTF-8&solutionId=KB115947): up to 6Mbps
Tmob (http://t-mobile-coverage.t-mobile.com/4g-wireless-technology): up to 21Mbps (however, I never see test reports breaking 8Mbps)
VZW (http://network4g.verizonwireless.com/#/whatis4g): up to 12Mbps (but test reports show higher speeds)
Do you see anything amiss in the use of the same word for all that?

Or, to look at it another way, that's enough storage to give 50G to just under 15 million users. Whee! :D
I think it is more about 1 gig for about 12 million people no?
