I think your first point is valid. I would do the same thing. If you are using AP, I don't think you need to go for stamping.
Your second point is some what complicated. As your H1 is expiring in April, if you renew it later in July, it might go for consular processing, which means that you won't get the I 94 with the approval notice. In that case you need to reenter uisng a valid visa.

Please do not rely on Indian Media for immigration news.
They have covered their bases by putting "May" in the headline. "May" increase visas.
There is already a discussion that happened about this on another thread. Please search the forums for the article before starting a new thread.
And for heaven's sake, please dont look for immigration related news in Indian Newspapers. They dont know that congress has two chambers : House and Senate. And they dont know the common basics of legislative process in USA.

Option 1: you can get someone to take your photograph with a digital camera and then use Passport photos for free - ePassportPhoto.com (http://www.epassportphoto.com) to make sure that it is cropped to size and meets the size requirements. You will need to ensure that the picture is taken correctly though (without shadows, against a plain light background, etc.). You can get more details about the photo requirements from:

Option 2: You can also go to any place like Costco or Walgreens and have them take your picture and upload the scanned version of the picture.

I am having my EAD and AP and I am not using my EAD.
EAD expires Sept 08
AP expires Oct 08
My question is
Can I renew AP only ?
If, I do not renew EAD will it be a problem in the future ?
Can I renew it after EAD has expired ?
Also, If I am renewing AP only, when does the 120 days rule come into picture.
Is it with the AP date or EAD date.

I graduated in MS (I'm on H4 currently) recently.My previous degree is from India (passed out BCOM in 1999). I dont have any IT experience.

If you signed G-28 and authorized Attorney to do that, yes they can sign the application on behalf of you and send it.

I just read somewhere...that if I do not file by I140 by July 31 the i lose chance to file I485 by august 17..which i could file anyway together if I have to file it by July31..Is this true..
the reason being that I am waiting for the hard copy of Labor Approval and the only thing I have is Cover letter copy..I do not want to miss chance

I think its only for labor exempt cases. Since your PD is 2001...u r fine to file by aug17th
Some people here say LC must be cleared by July 31st...so u r fine that way too. Your LC will say a approval date in July...so u r ok...(eventhough some argue that its not important)

I'm also pleased to announce that we will be extending the validity period of the employment authorization documents that we issue to individuals who are waiting adjustment of status to lawful permit residenture or in colloquial phrase, the green card.
Currently, adjustment applications are granted employment authorization documents with only a one year maximum validity. Beginning later this month, we'll start issuing these documents with a two-year validity period for aliens who are waiting adjustment of status if their application is expected to be pending for more than a year.
This, again, is eliminating a persistent source of frustration for workers who are here, who have a pending adjustment application but have to go and renew their employment documents every single year. It's going to cut the paperwork there.
