All i know is that as of yesterday there were only 18000 applications for Masters quota.
Why did not they get filled as fast as the Regular quota?
This is the reasoning my lawyer gave....
"Most of the applicants for Master's quota were in confusion after April 3 after reading several bulletins about 200,000 or so H1-B applications. And some people didn't even apply thinking that the USCIS may have received more than enough master's quota applications even though the bulletin said that they were accepting more applications for Master's quota."
I know of people who have submitted fresh H1-B applications under master's quota as late as April 7th.
So guys, wait for the official numbers. Don't believe me. But do compare when the official news is released.

Hi,
I am as well on the same boat. My H1 is getting expired on Sep 2010. My Company is ready to file a GC. But can't convince them to file in EB2 category. Also looking at the backlogs don't know if its the good time to start the GC process.
Can anyone put some light to this sitaution.

Now I have two H1Bs after transfer, literally. Am I correct? Now I am eligible to work for both the companies. Am I correct?
Hi Raja, you hve it wrong. You dont have two visas its considered as only one. You have transfered your existing VISA to another employer. An H1 transfer is just change of employer for that given visa.
So if you are working with two companies at the same times its considered illegal. But you can work partime with your existing company A, ask the company B to approach your company and work on C2C. But dont forget to update USCIS on your parttime work.

My current status is H1B with I-140 approved. I am planning for a fulltime MBA for which I have to transfer my visa to student visa. I heard from some sources that I cannot transfer to student visa when my 140 is approved. Does anyone here knows how far this is true?

I hope you do understand that once you change status to F-1, you essentially are losing your priority date and your GC application. Also, you will not be able to get a F-1 visa stamp on your passport as you cannot prove that you don't have an intention to immigrate (because you already had applied for and got an I-140 approved).

I got married recently. Both my husband and I have similar priority dates as labour was filed separately for each of us by our respective companies. Is there any downside to adding each other to our applications and dual filing for greencard?

IV does not support any abusive & insulting behaviour towards anyone incuding our worst adversary Lou Dobbs.
Please remember, we do have some members from antiimmigrant groups like numberUSA, who have created similar siyuations in the past.
Financial contribution is no doubt VITAL for our cause but we will never, I repeat never encourage any IV member to spoil their financial security to contribute towards IV. Please do not feel bad if you can not contribute ( we only feel let down by the people, who can contribute but do not do so)

2. My future greencard has been filed by Company B - recd. EAD, applied 485

1. Can I work on my EAD either for company A or any other company?

By giving birth to a child is US doesn't change your status any way. If your F1 is expired then you are illegal.

Anyonw planning on going to school this year full time? I am planning to...I have an EAD/AP that I can use and I know several IV'ans may be debating the same isssue
Now for the gurus who have already researched this:
1. Can one avail of financial aid (FAFSA) if has Advanced parole. I'm not 100%sure because its says 'indefinate parole" and i'm not sure if ours can be classified as "indefinate"
2. How does one activate EAD/AP (does one have to travel outside the country). I am currently still on H1B with 3 year extension granted but visa not stamped
3. One can go to school F/T on EAD. But what are the options to preserve one's PR application (..after all its been over 5-6 years since we filed are applications)...assuming its been over 6 months since I485 was filed and AC21 benefits kick in. And, is a leave of absence a better option than quitting.
I wanted to start a debate of what we are doing because I know several of us will be in the same boat.

fionaapple20: Safest and clean route is to find an another employer and transfer H1B. Make sure your current employer does not revoke your 140, in case if its not approved. Additionally, it is highly recommended to invoke AC21 after your 140 is approved and 180 days passed.
